U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham Dead At 71 After Brief Illness

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of the Republican Party’s most influential voices on national security and a close ally of President Donald Trump, has died at 71 after what his office described as a “brief and sudden illness.”

“On the evening of Saturday, July 11, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham passed away from a brief and sudden illness. Senator Graham’s family appreciates prayers at this time and asks for privacy during this incredibly difficult period,” his office said in a statement Sunday morning.

A cause of death has not yet been released, though emergency responders were reportedly dispatched to Graham’s Capitol Hill home for a cardiac arrest.
