Louisiana Republicans on Saturday selected Congresswoman Julia Letlow as their Republican nominee for the U.S. Senate, all but ensuring she will replace outgoing Sen. Bill Cassidy in the upper chamber.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With nearly all <\/span>votes counted<\/span>, Letlow \u2014 endorsed by President Donald Trump \u2014 defeated State Treasurer John Fleming in the runoff with about 57% of the vote. The two advanced to the runoff in May after no candidate cleared the 50% threshold, with incumbent Sen. Bill Cassidy eliminated in the first round.<\/span><\/p>\n

In a victory speech, <\/span>Letlow celebrated<\/span> the results, thanking Louisiana voters and Trump, calling him the \u201cgreatest president this country has ever had.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
