Three candidates backed by New York City\u2019s Democratic socialist Mayor Zohran Mamdani won their respective primaries on Tuesday \u2014 and two of them defeated incumbent Democrats to do it \u2014 but the one raising the most eyebrows is Darializa Avila Chevalier.<\/p>\n

Avila Chevalier, now the Democratic nominee for New York\u2019s 13th Congressional District, is a card-carrying member of the Democratic Socialists of America who doesn\u2019t believe murderers should go to prison \u2014 ever \u2014 and refers to American military veterans as \u201cwar criminals.\u201d She wants all police abolished, would cut the defense budget to $0, and referred to former President Joe Biden as a \u201crapist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite their desire to take back control of the U.S. House of Representatives in November, Avila Chevalier appears to be making some more moderate Democrats very uncomfortable \u2014 and they\u2019re doing everything they can to put as much distance as possible between Mamdani\u2019s chosen few and the Democratic Party writ large.<\/p>\n

Meghan Hays, who served as an adviser to both former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, told Fox News anchor Martha MacCallum that she was \u201cfrustrated\u201d by the fact that no one in the party appeared to be standing up to the obvious threat of takeover.<\/p>\n
