The aircraft went down at approximately 11:20 a.m. local time during what officials described as a routine test mission. \u201cAn Air Force B-52 Stratofortress carrying eight people on a routine test mission crashed today shortly after take-off at 11:20 a.m. (PDT),\u201d Edwards Air Force Base said in a statement. \u201cInitial indications are that the crash was not survivable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Emergency response crews remain on scene as officials work to account for all personnel aboard the aircraft. The crash is currently under investigation.<\/p>\n
