\u201cDuring his 16-month deployment, he was awarded numerous honors for his extraordinary service, including two Bronze Stars (one for valor) and the Purple Heart,\u201d it continued. \u201cEighty-five percent of his platoon received Purple Hearts for wounds incurred in battle.\u201d<\/p>\n

After being medically retired from the Army, Parnell told his story in the best-selling book \u201cOutlaw Platoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parnell later ran for U.S. Senate in his home state of Pennsylvania with Trump\u2019s endorsement, but ultimately suspended his campaign during a contentious divorce that included accusations of abuse. He denied the allegations from the beginning.<\/p>\n
