Crews began removing the final three Confederate-linked statues from the grounds of the Virginia State Capitol on Friday after Democrats buried a provision in the budget that set up the removal.<\/p>\n

The statues depict Confederate General Thomas \u201cStonewall\u201d Jackson, Confederate General and two-time Virginia Governor William \u201cExtra Billy\u201d Smith, and Confederate Army surgeon Dr. Hunter Holmes McGuire. Capitol Square has displayed Jackson\u2019s statue since 1875, McGuire\u2019s since 1904, and Smith\u2019s since 1906.<\/p>\n
