Communities across the country are fighting to keep data centers out. Columbia County, Georgia, is hoping one moves in so it can eliminate residential property taxes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe data center will produce more revenue when built and fleshed out,\u201d Columbia County Board of Commissioners Chairman Doug Duncan said. \u201cIt\u2019s going to take a couple of years, [but] it\u2019ll produce more tax revenue than the homestead that comes from taxes in Columbia County. Our long-term objective with this is to eliminate the homestead tax.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
