When asked about the issue by Daily Wire White House Correspondent <\/span>Mary Margaret Olohan<\/span>, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said President Donald Trump is aware of Cunningham\u2019s comments and shares her concerns about protecting female athletes.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t believe he has reached out to her,\u201d Leavitt said when asked whether Trump had contacted Cunningham. \u201cI know he is following the story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Leavitt said the backlash against Cunningham demonstrated what she described as a disconnect between leftist activists and the broader American public. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is something the president feels strongly about as well, and the American people do too,\u201d Leavitt said. \u201cThat men should not be playing in women\u2019s sports. It\u2019s completely ludicrous that anyone could support that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s even more ludicrous that you do have Sophie Cunningham, a female athlete herself, very accomplished in her own right, coming forth and speaking that truth that men shouldn\u2019t play in women\u2019s sports,\u201d she continued.<\/span><\/p>\n
