Mel Gibson warned his longtime creative partner Randall Wallace that Satan would target them if they made \u201cThe Resurrection of the Christ,\u201d Wallace recalled in a recent podcast.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Wallace, the Oscar-nominated screenwriter behind \u201cBraveheart,\u201d made the remarks during an appearance on Raymond Arroyo\u2019s \u201c<\/span>Arroyo Grande<\/span>\u201d podcast while discussing the upcoming sequel to \u201cThe Passion of the Christ\u201d and how the project came together.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHaving studied the Resurrection and being so consumed by it, I thought about it many times,\u201d Wallace said, explaining that he first suggested a feature-length film about Christ\u2019s resurrection while he and Gibson were promoting \u201cHacksaw Ridge\u201d in 2016.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wallace said Gibson hesitated to respond.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe said, \u2018If we do this, it can\u2019t be for the money, and it can\u2019t be to get back at people that have hated us or wronged us or been unhappy with us,\u2019\u201d Wallace recalled.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wallace said he agreed, then Gibson offered another warning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, Satan\u2019s going to come after you,\u201d he recalled Gibson saying.<\/span><\/p>\n

Wallace joked that he initially brushed off the warning.<\/p>\n
