The \u201cincendiary device\u201d caused \u201ca little fire,\u201d FBI New York field office Assistant Director in Charge James Barnacle Jr. said.<\/p>

\u201cOfficers quickly recovered the individual\u2019s bag, which contained what appeared to be two pellet guns and a manifesto,\u201d the agency said.<\/p>

At the time, the suspect was seen pushing a cart with a sign on it reading, \u201cICE off our streets.\u201d He was also carrying two axes, a hammer, a machete, and multiple knives.<\/p>

The New York Post reported that the suspect is a former U.S. Army and National Guardsman from Poughkeepsie.<\/p>

Two federal employees and civilian sustained minor injuries in the attack and were treated and released, Barnacle said.<\/p>

A Federal Protective Service officer \u201cswiftly tackled and detained\u201d the suspect, \u201csustaining minor injuries,\u201d according to DHS.<\/p>

The Jacob K. Javits Federal Office Building houses ICE\u2019s New York field office and an immigration court. During the Trump administration, the building has become a hotbed for anti-ICE protests.<\/p>

The FBI New York Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating the incident, the bureau said.<\/p>
