A large banner reading \u201cWe Will Kill Trump\u201d was carried by a massive crowd escorting Khamenei\u2019s body to its final <\/span>resting place at <\/span>the Shrine of Imam Reza in Mashhad on Thursday. The banner was just one of many threats against the president displayed throughout the multi-day ceremonies held across Iran and Iraq.<\/span><\/p>

Photos of the threats went viral, including posters depicting Trump with crosshairs over his face alongside the warning, \u201cThere Will Be Blood,\u201d giant banners promising rewards of up to $120 million for his assassination, and a black wall emblazoned with the hashtag \u201c#WeWillKillTrump.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Calls for violence against Trump also came from the funeral stage itself. On July 5, Iranian poet Mohammad Rasouli, serving as the official master of ceremonies before prayer readings, asked the crowd over loudspeakers: \u201cWhy is the most bastard man in the world still alive? \u2026 Why should we not kill the man who killed our imam? It would be a disgrace if we did not.\u201d Rasouli then led attendees in a chant declaring, \u201cTrump\u2019s murder is our responsibility.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Last month, members of Iran\u2019s Assembly of Experts, the powerful clerical body that chose Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran\u2019s new supreme leader following his father\u2019s death, appeared to endorse the assassination of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring that anyone who gains access to the two leaders is obligated to \u201csend them to hell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

Trump also <\/span>mentioned<\/span> his contingency plan in February 2025 \u2014 before the last two conflicts with Iran \u2014 while signing an executive order restoring maximum pressure sanctions on the regime.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the operation initially focused on Iranian missile capabilities, but individuals tied to threats against the United States were eventually added to the target list.<\/span><\/p>

It would be a disgrace if we did not.\u201d Rasouli then led attendees in a chant declaring, \u201cTrump\u2019s murder is our responsibility.\u201dLast month, members of Iran\u2019s Assembly of Experts, the powerful clerical body that chose Mojtaba Khamenei as Iran\u2019s new supreme leader following his father\u2019s death, appeared to endorse the assassination of President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, declaring that anyone who gains access to the two leaders is obligated to \u201csend them to hell.\u201dTrump also mentioned his contingency plan in February 2025 \u2014 before the last two conflicts with Iran \u2014 while signing an executive order restoring maximum pressure sanctions on the regime.\u00a0\u201cThat would be a terrible thing for them to do. Not because of me, because if they did that, they would be obliterated. That would be the end. I\u2019ve left instructions \u2014 if they do it, they get obliterated. According to court documents, Iranian officials directed Shakeri to develop a plan to kill Trump and indicated that \u201cmoney\u2019s not an issue\u201d when discussing the operation.The alleged architect of the plot, Rahman Mokadam, head of the IRGC\u2019s Special Operations Division, was reportedly killed during Operation Epic Fury in March. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth said the operation initially focused on Iranian missile capabilities, but individuals tied to threats against the United States were eventually added to the target list.\u201cWe\u2019ve known for a long time that Iran had intentions to kill President Trump, while that wasn\u2019t the focus of the effort by any stretch of the imagination, never was raised by the president or anybody else,\u201d Hegseth said. \u201cI ensured, and others ensured that they were eventually part of the target list.\u201dThe threats come amid escalating hostilities between Washington and Tehran.
